What is an Escape Room?

An escape room is an immersive gaming experience in which the players will find clues, solve riddles and complete puzzles to ultimately facilitate their escape of the room.

 

How many players are allowed in the room together?

The limit of players allowed in the room is specified when booking. The limitation is based on the size and amount of puzzles that are in the room and furthermore to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience. However, you are welcome to split your team in to two or more teams and compete for bragging rights!

 

How long is it going to take?

The entire party should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled reservation to allow time to go over the rules of the game and any questions the team might have. The game itself will last no longer than an hour. If any of the party is running late, 10 minutes will be allowed for them to arrive, but the game will start no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled booking time so that later reservations will not be affected.

 

Should I bring anything with me?

Nothing will be needed to escape the room except your brain and basic knowledge to solve the puzzles that will be in the game. You are welcome to bring your own camera for a photograph at the end of the game, however, we will take one for you and upload it to social media for you to access it. Other than that, all you need is yourself and your teammates!

 

Will I really be locked in?

The room will be never be fully locked. In case of an emergency, a phone call, or a restroom break, the door that you enter the room through will always remain unlocked as a way to exit if needed. Although, this escape will not win the game for you and your team.

 

Is it scary?

Although some scenarios might be scary in nature, there will be no live actors, nothing that will touch you or anything that will jump out at you. The escape room experience is not a haunted house, these rooms are designed to be fun, problem solving experiences, with a theme that gives you and your team a goal to reach together….not to scare you.

 
Will I be allowed to take pictures or videos while in the room?

We do not allow any photos or videos while in the room to protect the secrecy of the puzzles and game for future players. There will be an area in each room marked off by black and yellow tape that is an “out-of-play zone” that you can place all of your belongings in while playing the game. Upon completion of the game, you will also be able to go back and get your things.


What happens if I don’t solve any puzzles?

Throughout the game, you will have a game master who will guide you through the room and give you a push in the right direction should you get stuck on any of the puzzles. The object of the game is to have fun problem solving, but help will always be given to those who ask for it! Feel free to arrive early, solve riddles, and enjoy puzzles in our lobby to rev up your problem solving skills, play with any of the locks, boxes, puzzles and ask any questions.

 
Are my tickets refundable?

The tickets are non-refundable, however, we would be happy to reschedule your booking for a day or time that is more convenient for you and your team as long as there is 48 hours notice.

 

Am I allowed to book a corporate event outside of normal business hours?

To book a large event or any event outside of business hours please email info@puzzleroompittsburgh.com with details including the date, time, number of people attending, and any other requests or information along with the direct contact’s name, phone number, and email address. We do offer a discount for larger groups based on number of people.

 

Am I allowed to just walk in or do I have to book a reservation?

Walk-ins are always welcome, however it is best to book a reservation to ensure the time slot requested will be available.

 

Are there bathrooms?

There are bathrooms, which are accessible before, during, and after the game. It is also one of the coolest pieces of artwork at Puzzle Room Pittsburgh hand painted by one of the owners!

 

How soon in advance do I need to book?

In consideration of a specific date and time, we suggest sooner rather than later to ensure that the booking will be available. However, teams can book on the day of the reservation and although walk-ins are not recommended, with an available opening, are permitted.
